GoTo has kick-started the new year by continuing to support the vital work of the Foodbank Lifeline Foundation in Malta to provide food to those in need.

The vehicle sharing service provider recently contributed a fleet of cars – and the team’s manpower – to help transport the charity’s many donations from St Julian’s to its Marsa warehouse.

“The Foodbank Lifeline Foundation believes that no child or adult should ever experience hunger. It does its utmost to ensure that individuals, couples and families who struggle – particularly during these challenging times – can make ends meet, with enough food to cover them in the short-term, until a longer-term solution is found,” explains GoTo CEO Gordon Bugeja. “We are extremely proud to have had the chance to support them as they offer people this vital lifeline and we are keen to continue to do so going forward. Sharing is at the very core of our company and that creates a clear synergy between the Foundation’s mission and ours. Together we can go even further in building a more sustainable future.”

While GoTo has been offering its vehicles and team support to assist Foodbank with transportation of food boxes since October 2020, its contribution is particularly appreciated following Christmas. The Foundation’s ‘Reverse Advent Calendar’ campaign over the festive season tends to generate a high number of food donations to its St Julian’s collection centre from schools, private individuals and businesses – all of which must be rapidly sorted by expiry date and product, before being taken to the warehouse in Marsa. To help Foodbank complete this monumental task, volunteers from the GoTo Team have this month already helped transport over one tonne of food, in over 150 boxes, using ten GoTo electric cars.

Sustainability and social responsibility are central to GoTo’s core values. Founded internationally with a mission to reduce the number of privately-owned vehicles in cities by offering travel alternatives such as shared electric cars and scooters, GoTo has revolutionised Malta’s transport network since its launch in 2018. Covering all personal mobility needs with one membership and one exclusive app, the multi-modal vehicle sharing provider offers affordable, user-friendly and convenient One-Way and Roundtrip services via its exclusive fleet of cars and scooters.

“Although we are part of a global company that has quickly been expanding to new markets, our business only exists through the support of the local communities we serve. Helping these communities thrive is not only our responsibility, but a logical part of our purpose as a company – and helping companies and organisations in need will continue to be one of the pillars of our corporate strategy in 2021,” concludes Mr Bugeja. “Contributing to initiatives such as Foodbank also deeply strengthens our bond as a team, as well as the bond between our team and that of each initiative, so that we can all win together. Especially during these extraordinary times, sharing and helping each other is vital and ensures we get past the crisis stronger and more prepared for the future.”
